Virginia Graybeal Carter Williams, 92, passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior on December 10, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Winston Salem, NC, she is preceded in death by one son, Garland Brown “Bill” Williams, her parents John Ransom and Lyde Graybeal Carter, sister Marguerite Cantrell, and brother John Thomas Carter of Asheville.
Virginia is survived by her grandson Josh Williams and his wife Charlene and their son, Ethan, of Nebo. She is also survived by her granddaughter Heather Deibler and her husband Matt and their 3 children Samuel, Daniel, and Abigail, of Shelby. Additionally, Virginia is survived by five nieces Tommie Lynn Carter, Janet Pamfilis, Peggy Pressley, Theresa Clarke, and Carolyn Cantrell.
Virginia lived and worked in a family owned grocery store in Hendersonville, N.C. for 20 years. Her other various work experiences included retail sales, a Bible institute, and a senior center where she encouraged many friends along the way. She was an enthusiastic card player and taught others the joys of canasta. She enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren’s lives, offering instruction in sewing and serving up root beer floats. She was an active member at First Baptist Church in Swannanoa, N.C.
A private family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Asheville, NC at a date TBD when the pandemic improves. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Swannanoa First Baptist Church at fbcswan.org.
