Mary Joella Rigsby, 92, of Oakley, peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on August 31, 2024.

Born in the spring of 1932, Joella was the daughter of the late JT and Viola Blalock. Joella was a retired employee of Electrolux and a beacon of love, kindness, and generosity. Her family and friends were the center of her world, and she was the matriarch and unwavering rock for her entire family, always willing to make any sacrifice for their well-being.

In addition to her parents, Joella was preceded in death by her husband, John Rigsby; her sons, Charles Hensley and Stephen Smith; her sister, Jane Hensley; and her loving companion, Wiley Muse.

She leaves behind a grieving family who cherished her deeply: her brother, Jimmy Blalock with whom she shared a home; her sisters, Jean Price (Bob), and Joyce B. McCarson (Tommy); and her special niece and caregiver, Sheila Sibert (Coleman).

In accordance with Joella’s wishes, no services are planned at this time.

Western Carolina Mortuary Service is assisting the family during this time.
