Linda Ann Simmons Obituary

Linda Ann (Peden) Simmons departed to heaven on January 13, 2022. She was born on December 20,1946 in Asheville, NC, and blessed to have two sets of parents who loved her. Birthparents the late Frank and Verdelle Peden and adopted parents after the passing of her parents, the late George and Annie B. Simmons.

Linda was a member of St. John Church of God Holiness and a volunteer with her granddaughter’s non-profit organization C.H.A.N.G.E –N.C. She was an amazing woman. Sweet, kind, caring and full of life, she would give her last to anyone in need. She was a larger than life person with an infectious smile and wicked sense of humor and always the prankster that found a way to make people smile and laugh. There was never a dull moment and she always found a way to support and uplift others. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, fishing, watching movies, traveling and home decorating. For over 17yrs. she loved her job as a private Field Security Officer and Supervisor as it gave her the opportunity to meet and touch the lives of so many people.

Our mother was a faithful, devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and we are all blessed to have learned so many valuable lessons from her like: Being strong and independent, Being skilled and good at what you do, Always keeping a dollar in your pocket, Never giving up on anything you want, Good work ethics and working hard for what you want to achieve - Nana would have designed it, built it and ran it.

Her legacy lives on and left to cherish and honor her memory are her children: Mardrianna (Devon) Simmons of Houston, TX and Latisha Simmons of Asheville, NC. Brothers: Alfred Sherman of Harvey, IL and Franklin D. Taylor of Fayetteville, NC.; Sister: Mary Thompson of Springfield, MD; and 3 grandchildren: Kelsey, Karley and Kaiya; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and close friends.
