James Norman Jarrett, fondly known as "Norman," passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family at Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Weaverville, NC.
Norman was born on December 4th, 1944, in Marshall, NC, to Homer and Allie Jarrett. He served his country with honor as a veteran of the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and later retired from the Department of Location and Surveys in Asheville. A devout member of Alexander Baptist Church, Norman was cherished by his community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Jennings Jarrett, and his son Kenny Jarrett (Kristy). Norman was a proud grandfather to Miranda Jarrett, Allina Engle (Matthew), Alexis Banks, Austin Jarrett, Alyssa Cassada (Mason), Lainsley Jarrett, and Makenna Jarrett, as well as great-grandfather to Kylie, Emma, and Ava. He is also survived by his dear sister Shelby Robinson and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norman was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Jarrett, and his siblings Wilma Freeman, Aubree Jarrett, Martha Glenn, and Hubert Jarrett, as well as his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 (Weather Permitting), from 3 to 4 PM at Alexander Baptist Church, officiated by Gerald Sprinkle. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Madison Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care during Norman's time there. Norman will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him.
