Herbert Jennings Anderson, Jr. passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the age of 79.

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Herbert was born December 7, 1944 to the late Herbert Anderson, Sr. and the late Helen Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School, now Asheville High School, and had earned his degree from A-B Tech in Machining Tool and Die. He was self-employed as an engineer for 34 years.

In addition to being a highly talented carpenter and machinist, Herbert was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Anderson loved history and his country. He loved spending time with his family, and taking yearly trips to Disney World became a lasting memory, providing his grandkids with a special and loving childhood. Herbert was an inspiration to all he came in contact with, leaving a lasting impression. He has left a mark on us all and will be deeply missed.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Allison Farmer (Joseph Farmer) of Mars Hill, Jeff Anderson of Asheville, and Jill Anderson of Asheville; sister, Courtney Creasman of Asheville; grandchildren, Krista Murray (Lee Murray) of Alexander, Leslie Farmer of Mars Hill, John Chandler (Chelsea Chandler) of Weaverville, Andrew Anderson of Asheville, Kaitlyn Wallen (Andrew Wallen) of Asheville, Lauren Anderson of Asheville, and Megan Anderson of Asheville; nephew, Lindsey Creasman (Connie Creasman) of Winston-Salem, NC; and great grandsons, Cameron Murray and Grayson Murray.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, September 6, 2024 at Mars Hill Baptist Church.
