Catherine J Battersby (Cat) passed away peacefully on April 28 after a brief, but fierce battle with cancer. Born and raised in Chesapeake City, MD, she graduated from Bohemia Manor High School and attended Wesley College in Dover, DE.

She worked for several years as an archaeologist before moving to Asheville, NC, with her partner in life, and then worked at Earth Fare grocery store. She was a compassionate soul who had a smile and a hug, or kind word for everyone she met. Her connection with her family was most important and she loved being surrounded by them all- in good, and bad, times. An ardent lover of nature in all its forms, she enjoyed working in her yard and gardens, collecting ‘special’ rocks, as well as crystals, and fostering puppies for local rescue shelter and transport organizations.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Betty Sue Battersby (Vaughan), and survived by: her wife, Belinda; father, Charles Raymond Battersby, Sr (Birdie) of Chesapeake City; sister, Nancy Ciaschini (Battersby) and husband, Robert, of New Port Richey, FL; brother, Charles Raymond Battersby, Jr and wife, Elizabeth Barkan, of New York City, NY; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who all felt her love and light. You will be missed So Much by So Many.

A celebration of life will be held creekside at her home in Asheville, NC, On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 2:00-6:00pm, and another for friends and family in Chesapeake City, MD, on Jun 7, 2024 at 5:00pm at the Chesapeake City VFW. Event details will be posted on social media.
