Beverly Joan Scavelli Jones, 85, peacefully passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 in the loving care of Solace Hospice Center.
She was born November 21, 1936 in New Jersey, and lived in Pennsylvania for many years before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida. Beverly then moved to Asheville and fell in love with the mountains.
Beverly was very involved with the community and loved to assist people in finding affordable housing. She attended Jubilee Church in Asheville and was passionate about being involved in different committees for peace. She was a loving mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmot Adair Jones; her father, Howard A. Scavelli, Sr. and her mother, Marion F. Scavelli; her brothers, Howard A. Scavelli Jr. and William H. Scavelli; her sister, Bernadette McDonald; nephews, Edward Scavelli and Terrance Scavelli.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Taulbee (Mark) of Boiling Springs, SC; Patricia Horton (Gene) of Boiling Springs, SC and Sharon Allen (McKinley) of Inman, SC ; son, Charles Howard “Bud” Jones (Kierra) of Green Mountain, NC; brother, Edward Scavelli (Bunnie) of Hiawassee, Georgia and George Scavelli (Elaine) of Charlton, New York; grandchildren, Christopher Taulbee (Felisha), Richard Taulbee, Justin Taulbee, Kristen Ainslie (Gabriel), Molly Horton, Jack Horton, Robert Allen and Kaitlin Allen, Charlie Jones and Emma Jones ; 6 great grandchildren, Cloey, Tyler, Claire, Cori, Juniper and Darla, and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be held at the Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please make donations to a charity of choice in lieu of flowers as Beverly greatly believed in donating to those in need.
