Alvin Edward Usery

Alvin Edward Usery, 87, passed away on April 22, 2022 at his residence in Asheville, NC to the loving arms of his Lord. He was born in Henderson County to the late James Wade Usery and Hessi Ruth Usery.

Alvin served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs and cates. Alvin loved playing golf and softball. He also loved using his snow plow when it snowed for the businesses in Gastonia. He was self employed as a hair stylist and operator of 3 salons. He was a master stylist, trainer, top hair colorist and hair shaper for 25 years from New York to all along the East Coast. After he retired from hairstyling, he finished Bible college in Black Mountain, NC. Alvin finished a tailoring course at Belmont Technical College. He then went on to serve as a missionary in Costa Rica where he loved his time there.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Sara Ann Usery; son, Richard Alvin Usery.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving daughter, Pamela Usery McCarley; brothers, Rusty Usery, Jeff Usery, Mike Usery, Tim Usery; grandsons, Marcus A. Usery, Alexis D. Usery, Jordan B. Paxton; great-grandchildren, Grant Usery and Collins Usery.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
