Neill Kent Andersen passed away peacefully in his sleep at John F. Keever·
Jr. Solace Center the Morning of Sunday, October 08,2017.
He was born in Bryan, Ohio on April 9, 1948, to the late Bruce Edward Andersen and
Dottie Mae Kensinger.
He graduated from Holt High school and attended Michigan State University where he
played the clarinet and snare drum in their Marching Bands. He never married.
He lived for a while in Boulder, Colorado, before moving to Los Angeles, California,
where he worked at Hughes Space & Communication as an alignment engineer
assuring that the rocket motors on Space Communications Satellites would function
properly. In 1999 he bought a house, sight unseen, in Asheville, NC and spent the next
18 years assuring his mother's needs were always met and slowly turning a disaster into
his dream home.
He was pre-deceased by his Father, Bruce Edward Andersen. He is survived by his
mother, Dottie Mae Andersen, Nokomis, FL, step mother Donna Andersen, Sebring, FL,
half-sister, Laurie Holloway, Saline, MI, step sister Liane Laurion, Minneapolis ,MN, and
step-brother, Dr. Tom Schmidt, Montpelier, Vermont, and a number of extended family
and friends. He will be lovingly remembered by all.
At his request, he was cremated with no services held. In lieu of flowers, he requested
that donations be made to John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Road,
Asheville, NC 28803 "Where the beauty of the facility, and the care, love and attention
given me by the staff and volunteers was beyond belief."
