Dakota Lee
Gerringer
May 26, 2011 — Mar 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dakota Lee Gerringer on March 21, 2026, at the tender age of 14. Dakota was born on May 26, 2011, in Asheville, North Carolina. His life, though brief, touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dakota is survived by his loving parents, Jessica Taylor and Josh Gerringer and his bonus dad Elijah Bryant who cherished every moment with their precious boy. He leaves behind his sisters, Sierra Nester and Daisy Bryant, and his brothers, Tucker and Hayden Gerringer. Dakota was the adored grandson of Eva Taylor and David Taylor (Theresa) and the cherished bonus grandchild of Tara Cole (Theo).
His family of aunts and uncles include Renee Reed(Nathan), Erin Dollinger, Jennifer Draper, Chris Taylor (Laura), and Travis Brown, along with numerous cousins. Dakota's memory will be close to their hearts, remembering the laughter and love he brought into their lives.
Dakota was a spirited young soul who brought joy and laughter to those around him with his infectious laugh. He had a cute little smirk that would have you wondering what he was really thinking about. Dakota was also known for his eye rolls that let you know he was done with your antics.
Though Dakota's time with us was far too short, his impact was immeasurable. He was born with severe cerebral palsy and endured many limitations in life. He enjoyed watching his siblings and would play with them to the best of his abilities. His favorite colors were orange and green. His favorite tv show was Family Feud with Steve Harvey. He would laugh at all of Steve's jokes. He also enjoyed being alone in his room away from family like any typical teenage boy.
As we remember Dakota's life, let us hold onto the memories we shared and find comfort in the love that surrounds us. Dakota will forever be missed, but his spirit will live on in everyone that knew him.
A service to honor Dakota's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to celebrate the beautiful boy who brought so much joy to our world.
